Working Solutions provides work-from-home opportunities to folks across the United States and Canada. Launched in 1996 when the Internet did not have Google, YouTube or Facebook, this private, woman-owned company began as an idea that sparked the work-from-home 🏡 movement, and ultimately, the gig economy.

Since then, Working Solutions evolved into a customer experience business process outsourcing (BPO) leader, with operations in the United States and Canada. At the year-end, Working Solutions selects three organizations, providing each a donation as a show of additional support. Charity begins at home and in the workplace. What’s given to others is gotten back, many times over, in shared benefits and blessings.

Helping at Home

“For us, homeshore is hometown,” said Kim Houlne, president and chief executive of Working Solutions, headquartered in Plano, Texas. To help families gain economic stability, she serves on the city’s Self-Sufficiency Committee. It helps residents, especially single mothers, pursue employment and save money to buy a home. “I see it working. They are engaged, really wanting and willing to do it.”

Creating a Caring Culture

Company president and chief executive Kim Houlne is a student of different management styles, having experienced both good and bad.

As an employee at several companies and later a consultant, she’s run the gamut. From competitive workplaces to detached management to leaders who do right by people—her preferred style.
